Hostels Calling Back!

Updated: Jul 6, 2020

Wipe your tears, the new one! We know you are heartbroken and you fear to miss your Mumma ka khana as you are planning to move into your new home – Hostel! To adjust to a hostel for the first time can be difficult. Although UPES is one of the best universities in the country, it can be pretty tough on someone who has to stay away from home.

Shifting out of your comfort zone happens to take a toll on the fragile hearts of young ones – one of the repercussions being homesickness.

BUUUT, there is also a fun part - the pointless arguments, late-night chai shots, struggling for maggie, and staying up all night trying to make sure you all pass your exams. Ah! Students who have graduated from UPES love to reminisce in their hostel days. And who could blame them? Staying away from parents is bittersweet, but staying surrounded by your own people is something not a lot get to experience. And that is something every UPES student gets used to when their hostel rooms are always stuffed with 20 fellows late in the night trying to get assignments done. Let us all be honest, nothing beats that, does it?

For all the fucchas in town who are freaking out at the thought of staying at the hostel – we are here to help. Zenith Youth Hostel tends to be a pretty crazy ride that manages to have everyone on board. So now that you are going to be a part of this Hostel ride, why not take a minute to love all the little things there are to love about this journey?

Hostel Life - Maggie at midnight, missing home-cooked food, the importance of family, banking on others for class notes, borrowing interest-free loans, sleeping on a chair, and the group sessions a night before the exams, the list, maybe endless but for sure, hostel life teaches a great deal more.

Connections Are Important - Apart From WiFi & Internet too:

For once, let’s just keep the cleanliness of the hostel aside or whether the Wi-Fi connection works smooth or not, although it does at Zenith, more important is the connections and friends we make during our hostel life. Residents from different cultural backgrounds, a completely another level of sanity, and the weird peeps, catch them all and never let them go!

Free Advice

One thing you find everywhere else but need it the most in a hostel - free advice. A friend who is willing to help you out with the weirdest of questions you have with the most impractical and funny solutions initially and helpful advice later.

Time Is Precious

It’s not about whether you have it in you or not, if you can manage your time well, excelling is a sure shot. From the non-stop gossip sessions and fun time in the activity center at Zenith to excelling in the exams as well, a resident at Zenith learns to manage his time well.

Independence: The Door To New Opportunities

Independence - something that most of us barely get at home. In a hostel, you are accountable for yourself. From getting up in the morning, to having your wholesome meals, attending your classes and competing well, everything is upon you. Hostel's life at Zenith gives one the flexibility to fly in the open and seek things one couldn’t pursue when at home.

Experiencing A New Life

Stepping out of the home to live in a hostel is actually a great deal - several new things to try, making new friends, adjusting to a whole new environment, doing things on your own, taking initiatives, and living with freedom. Experience comes with time, from the issues, distress, frustration, and heartbreaks.

This life brings out the real you and gives extremely valuable memories for life. Some of them are unquestionably terrible; however, most of them are immense and priceless which remain with you forever.
